3 Secrets to Filling a Program Without a Launch

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ask me to lunch…but don’t ask me to launch. It’s one of my least favorite things in business. But you have to do it to get sales, right? Well, what if there was another way? One that felt more authentic and comfortable for those of us who don’t enjoy the process of a traditional launch and still gets results. It’s possible and I’m going to share with you the top three things it takes to fill a group program without a formal launch. They also happen to be the same three things that sell out the current format of the Ms.termind Mastermind™ program every single time.

Strategy. First, you’ve got to outline your goals and how you’re going to reach them. Identify how many participants you want and all the steps that need to be taken to make it happen. Be sure to include deadlines and if you work with a team, document who’s responsible for each task. For the record, this process only works if you follow it. I suggest reviewing and updating it weekly. Want to add a Law of Attraction spin on it? Think about what type of group you want to attract. Every group is different because of it’s own dynamics. Do you want a group that’s lively? Relaxed? Driven? Fun? Experienced? Open? A combo platter? The more clear you are about what you want, the easier it is to recognize when it shows up.

Relationships. Build solid ones all year round. Treat people with respect. Take time to learn about them, be generous in supporting them and do it without expectation. I’m not a fan of the “give to get” model. In fact, when I give without expectations, I get so much more and sometimes from unexpected places and people. The key is to be sincere and develop authentic relationships with people you truly respect and respect you. Also, treat your clients like they matter…because they do. They are the ones who support you in living your dreams, so show up for them consistently and with an attitude of gratitude. For the record, it makes it a heck of a lot easier and in most cases, effortless, when you work with people you genuinely like. It’s part of my business model and quite honestly, a non-negotiable…and equally non-regrettable.

Integrity. From start to finish. When I created the Ms.termind Mastermind™, I did it because I wanted to offer something for people who were ready to do the work, but not quite financially ready to invest in private coaching. Money shouldn’t keep people from being able to get an education – formal or otherwise.

So I created a program that offers a lot of value at an affordable price. A price that makes it easy for people to say yes without me having to pitch or convince them it’s the right thing from them. I give people the information that lets them decide if it’s the right program for them. Because when they join, I know they are fully committed and that means they are going to get results – and that’s what I want for them. But this doesn’t mean that everyone who’s interested in joining is the right fit. So I have to respond to that with the same level of integrity as I treat everything else in the program. Sometimes that means making a decision not to work together. You want it to be a positive experience for everyone involved, so make sure you consider group dynamics. This may sound a little scary as it can impact your bottom line, but that’s why you identify your goals in the beginning. If you’re going after the bottom line, then you may decide to handle your process differently. But if one of your goals includes attracting the right people for your program (not just the ones who can afford it), you may make a different decision.

  • Great tips, Gina! I find strategy the hardest because it takes the most focus. But when I do it, I’m always amazed at how quickly I reach my goals. Going off to do that right now…

Thanks, Linda! It’s a common thing for most people to skip, but the very thing that helps keep us on track and meeting our goals. If you think about it (and not just in business), I bet you could come up with a things of things you’ve accomplished in your life – and each one of them probably had some kind of strategy behind it. Keep reaching those goals! I’m cheering you on from the sidelines. (I’m the loud one.)
